SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team fell to San Jose State, 78-66, Saturday afternoon at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
Jordan Bell led the way for the Tigers (4-6), scoring 14 of his team-high 19 points in the second half of action. Bell, one of two Tigers to score in double figures, was also successful from beyond the arc. The graduate student from Inglewood, California, shot 40 percent (two-for-five) from the three-point line.
Nick Blake, who earned his second career start, finished the game with 10 points and tallied five rebounds.
The Spartans (5-4), who remained undefeated at home, finished the game shooting 43.6 percent (24-for-55) from the field. San Jose State also tallied 12 three-point baskets, shooting 44.4 percent from distance.
The Tigers won the battle on the boards, tallying 38 as the Spartans collected 35. The Tigers also had the advantage in bench points (36-5), fast-break points (12-11), and second-chance points (9-7).
Trailing by as much as eight points during the first 20 minutes of action, the Tigers cut the deficit to four, 32-28, with under three minutes to go in the first half. San Jose State, however, outscored Pacific 43-38 in the second half to pull away.
Pacific returns to action on Tuesday, December 14, taking on UC Santa Barbara at the Alex G. Spanos Center with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
