Djerkovic Scores Four Goals in 16-11 Loss to No. 4 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. –Bogdan Djerkovic of the Pacific men's water polo team followed up his five-goal game against Long Beach State on Thursday with a four-goal effort in a 16-11 loss to No. 4 Stanford on Sunday.
 
The Cardinal (16-4) spread the scoring among nine-players in the win as Tyler Abramson and Larsen Weigle each scored three times to lead Stanford. Ethan Parrish, Troy Gleason, Walker Seymour each added two and Nolan Krutonog had 13 saves.

The Tigers (9-10) managed to outshoot Stanford, 32-30 in the loss. In addition to the five goals by Djerkovic, Jeremie Cote and Djorde Stanic each scored twice, plus Mihailo Vukacic had a goal and three assists in the loss.

First Quarter
• Stanford went ahead 1-0 on an extra-man opportunity as Bogdan DJerkovic came back with a goal with 6:37 to tie the game at 1.
• Pacific tied the game at 4 on a goal by Djorde Stanic goal with 2:55 left in the opening quarter.
• The Cardinal regained the lead on its second extra-man goal of the quarter for a 5-4 lead.
• Djerkovic finished the quarter with three goals.

Second Quarter
• After the two teams traded goals, Stanford added to its lead for an 9-5 lead with 6:13 left in the quarter.
• The Tigers' head coach James Graham called a timeout and Pacific answered with two unanswered goals for a 9-7 contest with 3:33 left in the half.

Third Quarter
• The Tigers' Jeremie Cote scored twice to make it a two-goal game, 10-8 and 11-9, in the quarter. 

Fourth Quarter
• Stanford made it a 14-9 with its third extra-man goal to start the quarter.
• Pacific got back on the scoreboard as Bogdan Djerovic picked up his fourth goal of the game with 3:29 left to make it 14-10.

Next, Pacific will travel to Irvine to face UC Irvine on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in 2021.
