Hot Hitting Pacific No Match for Gonzaga in Straight-Set Win

STOCKTON, Calif. - A season-high .380 hitting percentage led the Pacific volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 win over Gonzaga on Thursday night. The .380 hitting percentage is the highest by a Pacific team since a .384 hitting percentage against Montana on Aug. 30, 2019. Furthermore, it is the highest against a WCC team since Nov. 10, 2018, at Portland.

"I thought our middles did a terrific job tonight," said Pacific head coach Greg Gibbons. "A part of our game plan was to take what they were going to give us in their blocking. Their blocking tends to get out and shut down outside hitters. I thought Sedona, she hit .786 tonight, which is ridiculous. We told her (Sedona) in our team meeting today that you have an opportunity that if they do not respect you, get up. Even when they were getting up, she was getting up and getting kills. That was a big addition for us tonight."

The Tigers (9-13, 6-5 WCC) were led by the one-two hitting tandem of Alexa Edwards and Sedona Sherman, who had 17 and 11 kills, respectively. Setters Gabby Leo and Jenna Heller had 20 and 19 assists, respectively. Plus, Heller added 12 digs for her 11th double double. Libero Jadyn Tubbs also had 12 digs for Pacific.

The Bulldogs (7-15, 3-8 WCC) were a balanced front in the loss as Kennedy Croft and Cara McKenzie each had eight kills for Gonzaga. Keau Kamake'eaina had a match-high 25 assists and Viktoria Ivanova had 10 digs.
