Malibu, Calif. - The No. 6 Pacific water polo team extended its winning streak to three games with a 12-10 win over host No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday.
The Tiger attack was led by a pair of three-goal efforts by
Matthew Hosmer and
Jeremie Cote. The three goals by Hosmer match a season-high, who also had three goals against Stanford on Sept. 4.
Djorde Stanic had four assists and
Reuel D'Souza added three assists to go along with a goal. Cote also had an assist to go along with his three goals.
Goalkeeper
John Hedges had six saves in cage for the win.
Pacific has won its last five meetings against Pepperdine.
First Quarter
• Pacific went ahead early 2-0 before host Pepperdine came back with two more on its side to even the score at 2.
• The Tigers regained the lead when
Matthew Hosmer scored his first of three goals with 1:24 left in the opening quarter.
Second Quarter
• The Wave went ahead with three-straight goals in the second period for its first lead on the day for a 5-3 advantage.
• Hosmer and
Calvin Behm each came back with a goal for the Tigers to tie the game at 5 before the halftime break.
Third Quarter
• The Tigers started the second half with a
Jeremie Cote goal, his second of the day, for a 6-5 lead.
• Jake Howerton of Pepperdine tied the game at 6 with 6:38 left in the quarter which marked the fourth time the contest had been tied.
• A 5-1 run to end the quarter by the Tigers put Pacific ahead for the remainder of the match.
• All five goals in the run were scored by a different Tiger.
Fourth Quarter
• Pepperdine outscored Pacific 3-1 in the fourth quarter.
• The lone goal for the Tigers came from Hosmer.
