SPOKANE, Wash. - The University of the Pacific volleyball team won its third match in five days with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18 win over host Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (6-10, 3-2 WCC) have won its last three contests after starting WCC play with a pair of losses to No. 11 BYU and No. 25 San Diego. Pacific hit .165 with 14 and 10 kills by
Alexa Edwards and
Ramonni Cook, respectively.
Miranda Baptista had a season-high 23 assists and three service aces, plus
Jadyn Tubbs and Edwards added 17 and 12 digs, respectively. For Edwards, it is her sixth double double of the season.
Set 1
The host Bulldogs won the opening set from start to finish as they jumped out to an 8-3 lead to begin the set. Despite the early deficit, the Tigers managed to get within three on four occasions. Down 18-10, Pacific managed to cut the deficit to 22-18 to prompt a Gonzaga timeout. After the two teams traded a pair of side outs, the Bulldogs closed out the set with a kill by Kennedy Croft to secure the first set by a 25-21 margin.
Alexa Edwards had three of the nine kills to lead Pacific and Zoe Thiros had four kills for the Bulldogs, who hit .212 to secure the first set.
Set 2
The second set was tied on 10 occasions and saw three lead changes. Pacific With the set tied at 15, kills by

Alexa Edwards and
Lucy Carpenter put the visitors ahead by a three-point margin, 18-15. The set remained close and saw Gonzaga take a 22-21 lead. The Tigers' coaching staff called a timeout and got an answer on the court.
Darina Kumanova got a kill to tie the set at 22. Then, a kill by the Bulldogs gave the home team a brief 23-22 lead. Pacific had an answer with another kill by Edwards, a service ace by
Jadyn Tubbs and a hitting error by the Bulldogs gave the visitors a set victory.
Set 3
The momentum of the second set victory carried over into the third set for the Tigers, who were victorious by a 25-20 margin. A five-kill effort by Kumanova and an eight-assist effort by Baptista led the Tigers in the set. The two teams were tied at 10 as Pacific regained the lead with three unanswered points en route to the set victory.
Set 4
Pacific rode the momentum wave into the fourth set, leading from start to finish. The Tigers raced out to an early 7-1 lead and held Gonzaga to a .088 hitting percentage in the set. Pacific picked up five more kills from Kumanova as it was an all-around team effort in the set win. Edwards added three kills and four digs to go along with a six-dig effort from Tubbs.
Next, Pacific will travel to Malibu, Calif. to face Pepperdine on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
