Tigers Fall to #12 Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Tigers battled with a highly touted Terrapins team in College Park for their last non-conference game of the season. The Tigers played well, outside of a six-minute window the two teams were deadlocked. The Terrapins used the burst of offensive firepower however to take the win 3-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

Neither team scored in the first half as the two sides looked to figure each other out, being on opposite sides of the country the two teams spend most of the first half settling into the flow of the game. The Tigers had two shots in the first half and three corners. The Terrapins had six shots and two corners. 

The second half the Tigers continued to play tough, but the Terrapins broke through the defense in the 53rdminute, again in the 57th minute and a third time in the 59th minute. However, the Tigers didn't fall apart and did not allow the Terrapins to score again in the final 30 minutes of play. 

TIGER LEADERS: 

Erik Centeno led the Tigers with two shots, Yazid Omri, Samuel Villalta, and Diego Villapudua all had shots as well for the Tigers. In goal Eric Cotton had three saves on six shots on goal. 

UP NEXT: The Tigers are back in WCC action next weekend as they travel to Saint Mary's. Kick-off will be at 1:00 p.m. on October 23rd, in Moraga, CA.
