THINGS TO KNOW:
  • The Tigers will be looking to bounce back following an 0-2 road trip last week at Pepperdine and No. 1 Gonzaga. Pacific fell to Pepperdine last Thursday by an 85-68 final before Tigers shooting just 27.9 percent from the floor in a 95-49 loss to the top-ranked Bulldogs. Hungry to get back in the win column, the recent winless road trip came on the heels of a 2-0 start to conference play for UOP with home wins over Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount in mid-January.
  • Saturday marks the Tigers' first game at the Marriott Center since the 2018-19 season as the teams met just one time in Stockton last season, a 74-60 BYU victory on Jan. 23, 2020. This matchup also marks the 19th meeting all-time between the Tigers and Cougars, with BYU having won 12 of the previous 18 meetings- six of those 12 wins coming in Provo. Pacific's last win at the Marriott Center came on Feb. 6, 2016 by a final of 77-72 and the Tigers' last win overall over the Cougars came at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Jan. 6, 2018 by a final of 67-66. Overall, Pacific is 3-10 versus BYU since rejoining the WCC in 2013-14.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
  • BYU, which was supposed to play San Francisco on Saturday, enters the contest on the heels of a 76-73 loss at Pepperdine this Wednesday that dropped them to 4-2 in conference play. In the loss, BYU was held to just 39 percent shooting from the floor in the second half, including 2-for-10 from beyond the arc, while Pepperdine's Colbey Ross and Kessler Edwards scored 19 and 18 points, respectively. Despite the loss, the Cougars hold second place in the WCC standings behind Gonzaga.
  • BYU has three players who are averaging double figures in points per game. Senior guard Alex Barcello leads the way with 14.9 points per contest, followed by Matt Haarms (11.1) and Brandon Averette (10.3).
