STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific Athletic Foundation is pleased to announce the return of its online series, Tiger Talk, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 5:30 pm PST.
Hosted by Zack Bayrouty, the voice of Pacific Athletics, this week's episode will include Pacific alum and NFL legend Tom Flores '58.
Flores was the starting quarterback for the Pacific football team in 1957 and 1958, before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 1960. During his time in the bay, he became the first-ever Hispanic starting quarterback in professional football to win a Super Bowl, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in 1970 to achieve football immortality.
After retiring as a player in 1970, Flores immediately began his coaching career in the NFL, which would include stints with the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks from 1971-1994. As a head coach, he made history yet again, becoming the first minority coach in league history to win a Super Bowl with the Raiders title run in 1980. Securing another ring in 1983, Flores and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka are the only two in NFL history to win a Super Bowl as a player, assistant coach and head coach.
