Tigers Fall At No. 1/1 Gonzaga

Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – Making the trip to the McCarthey Athletic Center to face the nation's top team on Saturday night, the Pacific men's basketball team (5-3, 2-2) fell to No. 1 Gonzaga (15-0, 6-0) as the Tigers could not find their rhythm on the offensive end.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Gonzaga took advantage of Pacific's offensive woes early and opened the game on a 12-2 run.
  • After sophomore Daniss Jenkins made a jumper at the 15:22 mark to cut the Gonzaga lead to 12-4, the Bulldogs went on another 8-0 run to extend their lead to 20-4. At the 9:49 mark, Corey Kispert sank a three-pointer that ballooned the Bulldogs lead to 34-8. Gonzaga built a 52-21 halftime lead as the Tigers shot just 9-for-33 in the first half while the Bulldogs went 18-for-34 from the floor, including 7-for-15 from beyond the arc where Pacific went only 1-for-8.
  • The Tigers continued to struggle on the offensive end in the second half despite Jenkins coming alive and scoring 10 of his 17 total points in the period.
  • Defending their homecourt to remain undefeated this season, Gonzaga would defeat Pacific by a final score of 95-49.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Jenkins was tabbed the Hardworking Player of the Game after finishing with a game-high 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. The Dallas native also pulled down four rebounds and added one steal for the Tigers.
  • Scoring in double digits for the second straight contest and the fourth time this season, sophomore Pierre Crockrell II notched 11 points on 4-of-13 from the field.
