THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Tigers, who got out to a 14-0 lead over Santa Clara before three minutes had elapsed, were led on Thursday by graduate student Jordan Bell, who notched his first double-double in a Pacific uniform with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Bell was one of four Tigers to score in double figures as Daniss Jenkins poured in 15 points on 7-for-11 from the floor, Jeremiah Bailey fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards while Pierre Crockrell scored 12 points and dished out a game-high five assists without committing a turnover.
- Pacific swept its season series with LMU last season, earning a 62-50 win at the Spanos Center on Jan. 30 and a 60-53 win at Gersten Pavilion on Feb. 27. Pacific is 6-8 versus LMU since rejoining the WCC in 2013-14.
- Saturday's contest also marks the first game for Bell versus his old team. Bell averaged 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Lions in 2019-20. Bell played in a total of 63 games for LMU in two seasons with the Lions.
- As of Jan. 15, five WCC teams have earned spots in the top-100 in the NET rankings: Gonzaga (2), BYU (35); Saint Mary's (72), San Francisco (85) & Pacific (92). No fewer than seven teams appear in the top-120: LMU (104) & Santa Clara (116).
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- Loyola Marymount, who saw six games in a row cancelled or postponed before a 68-60 win over San Francisco on Sunday to open league play, enters Saturday's matinee with a 6-3 overall record under first year head coach Stan Johnson, including three wins over Big West opponents UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine and Cal Poly.
- In the win over San Francisco, Eli Scott and Keli Leaupepe led the way with 20 and 19 points, respectively, while Scott pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Lions held San Francisco to just 23 percent shooting from beyond the arc (7-for-24) and outrebounded the Dons 37 to 27.
- Scott leads the way for the Lions as he averages 14.5 points per game while redshirt sophomore Dameane Douglas averages 13.6 points per contest. Leaupepe and Joe Quintana average 10.9 and 10.1 points, respectively.
