STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer program has added another integral piece for their future with the official commitment of Cory Johnson of Redlands, California on Thursday afternoon.
With the departure of five seniors this offseason, head coach
Adam Reeves is looking for the midfielder to compete for significant minutes right away: "Cory has played the majority of his minutes as a central midfielder, but his versatility will make him an asset anywhere centrally or on the left side of the pitch."
Graduating from Redlands East Valley High School in his home town, Johnson did not play varsity soccer for the Wildcats, but instead suited up for the US Soccer Development Academy and his club team, FC Golden State.
"Cory is a confident young man with the ball at his feet and his work ethic without the ball will cause problems on both ends," said Reeves. "His drive and discipline in all aspects of his life will enable him to have a very successful career here at Pacific."
Overall, Johnson is the sixth student-athlete to commit to the Orange and Black in 2020 and the first to come from the high school ranks. As a whole, he will join the Tigers alongside future teammates Eric Cotton (Western Michigan), Myles Hall (UNC Greensboro), Samuel Saiz Herriaz (Oregon State), Yazid Omri (University of Mobile) and Samuel Villalta (Iowa Western CC).
