STOCKTON, Calif. -
Madeline Domingo, a junior on the softball team, has been named a recipient of a 2020 Pacific Athletics Four Pillars Award, given to a student-athlete who exemplifies each of Pacific's four core identities: Family, Balance, Winning Spirit and Innovation.
Despite the shortened season, Domingo was the ultimate team player for the Tigers, guiding Pacific to a 15-10 overall record. Battling and competing no matter the circumstances, Madeline treated everyone in the dugout like family, was outstanding in the classroom and was involved with the Pacific Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (PSAAC) this past year.
Although the position can be unforgiving at times, Domingo caught all 25 games for head coach
Brian Kolze in 2020. Practicing drills in addition to competition, Domingo experienced an extra work load as a catcher, but always took it in stride, setting an example as an inspirational leader. In the process, she also earned the respect of her teammates by never accepting defeat, staying focused each and every day to become the best version of herself. No matter how arduous the task was, Domingo never complained of her duties.
Furthermore, Madeline embodied the true spirit of a Pacific student-athlete, balancing the demands of her sport, the pressure of a social life and her responsibilities within PSAAC while ultimately maintaining straight A's in the classroom. Overall, she possessed a warrior mentality and adapted to all that was thrown at her this past year, no matter how she felt emotionally, mentally or physically.
Additionally, Domingo treated her teammates like family all season long as she always displayed compassion for her peers. Domingo truly led by example and was a reliable source for her fellow Tigers when they needed a helping hand.Innovation-wise, Domingo also led Pacific softball's first leadership council. Spearheading the discussions, she generated ideas on how the program could improve on a daily basis.
Ultimately, Domingo was a tremendous leader, teammate and friend as her selfless acts consistently pushed individuals around her to become the best version of themselves.
