Tigers Fall on Final Day in Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team (3-1) got offense going in the middle innings, but was unable to keep up with Middle Tennessee State (3-3) in a 4-2 defeat to close out the Titan Classic Saturday at Anderson Family Field.

How it Happened
  • Pacific got their offense in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk from Ralene Estrada that brought Megan Wachholtz home. Lucchetti touched home plate on the next at bat as Bradi Kooyman wore one to keep the bases loaded.
  • Lucchetti ended the day going 1 for 3 from the plate with a single up the middle in the fourth that started the two-run frame for the Tigers.
  • Pacific had a chance to plate more runs in the top half of the seventh inning, as Myka Sutherlin singled to short, but was out one at bat later as Madison Kahwaty reached first on a fielder's choice.
  • Vanessa Strong was back in the circle for the Tigers on the tournament's final day, going 4.0 innings with two walks and a strikeout.
Up Next:
  • Pacific comes home to Stockton to host the annual Libby Matson Tournament against Seattle, CSUN, CSU Bakersfield and Nevada next weekend from February 14-16. All games will be broadcast on the WCC Network.
What Coach Kolze Said:
  • "Although we didn't have a good day, we did have a great weekend. It makes the bus ride a little longer when you drop the last game of the weekend, but I know the mistakes we made today defensively and offensively we will learn from. Overall it was a tremendous weekend and I am very proud of the heart, energy and fight the team showed."
