FRESNO, Calif. – The Pacific softball team (7-4, 0-0 WCC) got another productive day at the plate from
Carly Lucchetti, but Ohio State surged ahead in the later innings to earn the 6-2 win Saturday afternoon at the Fresno State Invitational, played at Margie Wright Diamond in Fresno.
How it Happened
- Lucchetti's 2-for-3 day started with a double in the second that brought Caitlyn Sung around third, but Sung was thrown out at the plate to keep the contest scoreless.
- Pacific got redemption in the third, however, plating a run off an RBI single from Madison Kahwaty that brought Lucchetti home. The Tigers kept the pressure on in the inning with runners advancing to second and third, but that was all the offensive production the Buckeyes would allow.
- Both offenses saw nothing going in the fifth inning, but Ohio State used a four-run sixth to put the game away and snap the Tigers' four-game win streak.
What Coach Kolze Said
"Tough game. We didn't play badly, we just didn't win. They put together one big inning and that was all it took. We had some other opportunities but we didn't cash in. Fortunately, we get back on the field tomorrow with an opportunity to bounce back."
