DAVIS, Calif.- The No. 18 Pacific women's water polo team (2-7) completed play at the Aggie Invite on Sunday afternoon, falling to host and No. 14 UC Davis, 12-7 at Schaal Aquatics Center.

Despite a hat-trick from sophomore Brianna Utas, the Tigers could not complete the comeback against the Aggies in their final match of the tournament.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
  • Although UC Davis would score the first two goals of the match, UOP got on the board at 3:24 in the first period as sophomore Lucy Davis assisted fellow sophomore Toula Falvey to cut the Aggie leaed in half.

  • Hitting their stride in the second period, Pacific netted three straight goals to come within just one of UC Davis, 5-4. In the run, two of these goals came from Utas while the other was scored by Davis.
  • Unfortunately, the Aggies found the back of the cage twice more before the end of the half to take a 7-4 lead into the locker room.
  • Doing her part, sophomore Ana Martinez Do Amaral scored her tenth goal of the season with 3:53 remaining in the third period, keeping the Tigers within striking distance, 8-5.
  • Unable to find their momentum on defense, the Aggies led the Tigers, 10-6, heading into the final frame after a goal from senior Emma Myall with 44 seconds left in the quarter.
  • Shortly into the fourth period, Utas netted her third goal of the match to complete the hat-trick.
  • Ultimately, Pacific could not battle back down the stretch, falling to No. 14 UC Davis by a final score of 12-7.
