Tigers' Three-Match Week Begins at San Francisco on Tuesday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team is scheduled for a three-game week with games against San Francisco, No. 9 BYU, and San Diego.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Pacific improved its record to 9-3 with a five-set victory at Saint Mary's last Friday to open West Coast Conference play.
  • The Tigers are now 4-0 in five-set matches.
  • The Tigers out-played the Gaels in nearly every statistical category — points (86-73), kills (71-58), service aces (8-2), assists (67-54), and digs (75-67).
  • Riley Patterson led all players with 24 points and 23 kills. In addition, she finished second on the Tigers team with 13 digs. 
  • Riley Ramsey also had a stellar match, hitting a whopping .324 (15-3-37) from the outside en route to being named one of two Pacific Tigers of the Week.
  • Libero Jadyn Tubbs led the pass with a match-high 23 digs. 

     

ALL-TIME

  • Pacific leads the all-time series with San Francisco, 27-2, with the Tigers winning its last 11 meetings with the Dons – last meeting: W, 3-2 at San Francisco (Nov. 29, 2018)
  • The Tigers trails the Cougars in its all-time series, 7-16 with its last win against the Cougars coming on Sept. 6, 1996. – last meeting: L, 0-3 at Santa Cruz, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2018).
  • Pacific trails San Diego in the all-time series, 16-0 – last meeting: L, 0-3 at Moraga, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2018)

     

SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO

  • San Francisco is 4-9 on the season, having lost its last six matches, including road matches at Pepperdine and LMU last weekend. 
  • Senior Kathya Garcia leads the Dons offensively with 4.05 points and 3.51 kills per set. In addition, Garcia makes up 21 of the team's 59 service aces. 
  • Junior Anna Dalla Vecchia continues to command the back row with 4.00 digs per set and a .959 receipt percentage.

     

SCOUTING BYU

  • The Cougars boast a stellar 11-2 record with its only losses coming against No. 10 Marquette and No. 6 Texas. 
  • McKenna Miller returns as the Cougars top hitter with an average of 3.96 kills per set. 
  • Libero Mary Lake continues to be stellar on defense with 165 digs and just four receiving errors for an average of 3.59 digs per set. 
  • BYU continues to shine at the net with sophomore middle blocker Heather Gneiting averaging 1.24 blocks per set and junior middle blocker Kennedy Eschenberg averaging one block per set. 

     

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO

  • San Diego is off to a strong start, improving to 9-4 overall, 2-0 in conference play after defeating Portland (3-0) and Gonzaga (3-0) on the road last weekend. 
  • The Toreros have four players averaging over three points per set — Grace Frohling (3.49), Katie Lukes (3.39), Thana Fayad (3.31), Morgan Jacobsen (3.19). Lukes leads with 3.08 kills per set.
