Tigers Open WCC Play at Saint Mary's on Friday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team will open its 2019 West Coast Conference (WCC) campaign at Saint Mary's on Friday night.

TALE OF THE TAPE

  • Pacific leads the all-time series 12-7, but has lost in its last two meetings with the Gaels.
  • The Tigers are off to their best start (.667 win pct.) since the 2015 season. That year they opened with a 9-2 non-conference record. 
  • Saint Mary's is coming off of consecutive losses to No. 24 California. 
  • The Gaels schedule thus far has included three nationally-ranked squads, in addition to the Golden Bears, they faced No. 23 Cal Poly (W, 3-0) and No. 7 Kentucky (L 0-3).

The Tigers are coming off of four weeks of tournament play, traveling to UC Davis, New Mexico State, UNLV, and Butler for 12 total matches. Pacific finished 8-4 in non-conference play.

Tournament play was highlighted by the Tigers performance at the UNLV Invitational. Pacific won the event with the help of tournament MVP Allison Dennemann and all-tournament selections Kennedy Kaminsky and Sedona Sherman

 

WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Allison Dennemann became the first Pacific volleyball player to be named WCC Player of the Week since Nov. 5, 2018. The sophomore, outside hitter from Palestine, Ind. earned her first nod after leading the Tigers to a 3-0 record at the UNLV Invitational. She broke her career record kills twice on the weekend with 16 against Texas Tech, then 21 against UNLV. On the weekend, Dennemann totaled 49 kills, 26 digs, and four service aces, for averages of 3.7 kills and 2.0 digs per set.
