Kosan wins Battle in the Bay?

Klara Kosan Wins Battle in the Bay Singles Championship

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Klara Kosan won her first collegiate tournament in as many tries on Sunday morning, downing Wake Forest's Anna Campana 6-4, 6-2 in the Women's Singles Final at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco.

The freshman took the first set from Campana before going up 3-1 in the second set. Campana took the next point, but that was all the damage Kosan would allow on her way to the title clinching point.

"I am really happy about my match today," Kosan said. "It was tough since I have played Anna (Campana) a few times in the past, but I kept my cool and was able to pull through in straight sets. I am beyond grateful to have had to the opportunity to represent Pacific in this tournament."

With the tournament victory in San Francisco, Kosan has now earned a wildcard into the Central Coast Pro Tennis Open and will begin play in Templeton this week coming off "a historic win for Pacific Women's Tennis," as Tigers head coach Mike Erwin put it.

"We're incredibly proud of Klara and how hard she fought all weekend," Erwin said. "This is one of the biggest events of the fall and I'm really happy with how all three of our freshmen represented us against tough competition. Klara winning the tournament is a huge step in the right direction for our program."
