STOCKTON, Calif. – The No. 4 Pacific men's water polo team defeated Austin College, 20-4 to open play at the UC Davis-hosted Aggie Roundup on Friday evening.
The win puts the Tigers at 3-0 on the season.
In Case You Missed It
- The Tigers out-shot the Roos 33-27
- Bogdan Djerkovic led the team with five goals on six shots for a total of five points. Also scoring hat tricks in the contest were Djordje Stanic, who also had two assists for a total of five points, and Engin Ege Colak.
- Sophomore Joey MacLeane made his first start in goal and totaled three saves, four goals. Jon Barry came in to defend in the second half and totaled seven saves.
1st Period
- Tigers were first on the board, going up 2-0 on the Roos within the first two minutes of play. Jeremie Cote scored both goals, the first off an assist by Luis Araya.
- Austin College scored its first goal at 6:27, but Pacific extended its lead by two once again just 13 second later off of a goal by Colak.
- Pacific scored three more goals in the period at 3:26, 2:46, and 00:35.
2nd Period
- Pacific mirrored its first period with six goals, on shots taken by Matthew Hosmer (2), Eli Lule, Stanic, Djerkovic, and Colak.
3rd Period
- Stanic was to credit with the next two goals for the Tigers, assisting on a goal by Andrea De Nardi at 7:32 and scoring his second goal of the day at 6:48.
- Austin College was allowed just one more goal in the match, scoring on a penalty at 3:13.
- Pacific went on to score three more goals to extend its lead to 17-4.
4th Period
- Pacific held the Roos scoreless in the fourth period.
- Djerkovic scored two of the Tigers final three goals, including the team's final goal 5:10. Lule also scored in the period, slipping his second goal of the game past the Roos keeper at 6:36.
