Biography

2019 (Senior)
Played in 22 games with 27 goals and 15 assists. Registered three hat tricks on the year, including his first at California (9/15). Scored twice in the NCAA Semifinal against Pepperdine (12/7). Tallied 12 steals. Ranked third on the team and sixth in the Golden Coast Conference with 10 goals in conference play with hat tricks against UC Santa Barbara (10/20) and Pepperdine (10/26). 

2018 (Junior)
Araya was one of the GCC's top playmakers in 2018, earning Honorable Mention GCC All-Conference after ranking second on the team and fourth in the conference with 81 points (41 goals, 41 assists) in 24 games. His 41 assists led the conference and his 3.42 points per game ranked second. Also ranked second in conference play with 19 points while topping the leaderboard with 10 assists. Tallied a season-high seven points against Harvard (9/2). Scored three goals in the GCC Tournament on a combined 13 shots. Drew 11 exclusions and made 21 steals. 

2017 (Sophomore)
Appeared in all 27 matches for the Tigers, finishing with 30 goals and 21 assists for 51 points. Registered a goal in 17 games and recorded eight multi-goal games along with five hat tricks. Posted a season-high eight points in the Tigers' season opener against No. 14 Bucknell (9/3). Also recorded three goals in the NCAA opening round against No. 17 Pomona Pitzer (11/25). Scored two goals in the NCAA Semifinal game against No. 1 UCLA (12/2). 

2016 (Freshman)
Scored 33 goals as a freshman with 15 assists for 48 points to earn All-GCC Honorable Mention. He posted 12 multi-goal games and scored in 18 of 26 games, including the final 12 games of the season. Turned in three hat tricks on the year, with a season-high three goals against No. 3 USC (10/1), No. 14 George Washington (10/20) and No. 7 Long Beach State (11/19) in the GCC semifinals. Also turned in three games with multiple assists. Recorded 20 steals and drew 10 exclusions.

High School
Luis Araya is a Stockton native and a two-time All-American at Saint Mary''s High School. He was a First Team All-TCAL selection each of his four years, scoring 381 goals and helping the Rams to three TCAL championships. He was also named the Stockton Record''s boys water polo top player. He helped the USA Men''s team to the 2016 Junior Pan Ams gold medal game with 29 goals at the tournament in Edmonton, including six in the gold medal game.
