Volleyball Opens 2019 Campaign at Aggie Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team will open its 2019 campaign this weekend, when it travels to UC Davis for the Aggie Invitational.

Pacific vs. San Jose State: Pacific leads 13-7 (Last meeting: Sept. 14, 2013 - Pacific, 3-0)
Pacific vs. Montana: Pacific leads 4-0 (Last meeting: Aug. 25, 2012 - Pacific, 3-2)
Pacific vs. UC Davis: Pacific leads 13-7 (Last meeting: Nov. 24, 2012 - UC Davis, 3-1)


LAST TIME OUT

In a very competitive season, the Tigers finished 13-16, including an 8-10 record in West Coast Conference play. Pacific's season was highlighted in its final nine games, going 6-3 with key wins over LMU and Pepperdine to close out the 2018 season.
 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Riley Ramsey will look to lead this season's team after averaging 3.49 points, 3.11 kills per set last season. Riley Patterson also had a stellar debut season with averages of 2.87 points, 2.57 kills, and 2.64 digs per set. Libero, Jadyn Tubbs led the Tigers from the back row, collecting 3.86 digs per set in 2018.


YOUNG SQUAD

Pacific returns just one upperclassman in junior setter Hanne De Schrijver. De Schrijver, a Belgium native, returns for her third season with he Tigers. Also returning from last year's squad are six sophomores — setter Gabby Leo, outside hitter Allison Dennemann, libero Jadyn Tubbs, outside hitter Riley Ramsey, right-side Lucy Carpenter, and outside hitter Riley Patterson.

Rounding out the team of 13 are Shahrzad Sadeghi (freshman • L/DS), Alex Keith (freshman • OH), Kaelyn Saler (freshman • MB), Kennedy Kaminsky (sophomore • MB), Sedona Sherman (freshman • MB), and Carissa Bradford (freshman • OH).


PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

The Tigers were selected to finish sixth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll. Here are the predicted final standings:

  1. BYU (81 pts)
  2. San Diego (71 pts)
  3. Pepperdine (66 pts)
  4. LMU (58 pts)
  5. Saint Mary's (42 pts)
  6. Pacific (33 pts)
    Portland (33 pts)
  7. Gonzaga (32 pts)

  9. San Francisco (16 pts)

In addition, Riley Ramsey, who was named to the 2018 WCC All-Freshman team, was tabbed to the 2019 All-WCC Preseason Volleyball Team.
