STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific Men's Basketball Head Coach Damon Stoudamire and his staff have announced three additions to the Tigers' 2019-20 squad, finalizing a roster that includes six returners, three graduate transfers, one four-year transfer, two junior college transfers, and three freshmen.
The most recent signees include Austin Vereen, Shaquillo Fritz, and Pierre Crockrell Jr.
Vereen, a 6'4" guard comes to Pacific for his final collegiate season, after serving three seasons (2015, 2016, 2017) with the Virginia Military Institute Keydets. He sat out last season due to an injury to his wrist.
"Austin is a mature player who will give us experience and depth on the wing. He is an underrated three-point shooter and with his strong frame he also has the ability to get to the rim," expressed Stoudamire.
The Washington, D.C. native appeared in 30 games and averaged 27.1 minutes per game as a junior. He ranked second on his team with 10.4 points per game, thanks to 34.3 percent accuracy from three-point range, and 4.7 rebounds.
Overall, Vereen has compiled career averages of 5.1 points and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 32 percent from beyond the arc.
Fellow graduate transfer, Fritz, is a 6'8" forward out of Arkansas State.
"Shaquillo is a forward/center who will add depth up front. He is an elite athlete and a shot blocker. We look forward to the impact he will have on our program."
The Freeport, Bahamas product appeared in 25 games, started in 13, for the Red Wolves in 2018-19. Fritz led his team in blocks for the season and was one of the best in the country in blocked shots per minute played. In conference play, Fritz averaged 2.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Before arriving at Arkansas State, Fritz attended Paris Junior College where he averaged 5 points and 4.5 rebounds, along with ranking in the top 5-nationally in blocked shots per game.
Crockrell Jr. is a 6'0" guard out of Seattle, Wash. He comes to Stockton after finishing his high school career at Prolific Prep, a national basketball powerhouse located in Napa Valley. As the starting point guard he led his squad to 26 wins.
"Pierre is a consummate point guard. He gets everyone involved and has a great feel for the game. He played on some of the best high school teams and with some of the top players in the country. I look forward to watching his growth over the next couple of years."
In 2017-18, Crockrell Jr. was a member of Garfield High School in Seattle, Wash. and helped the Bulldogs to a State Championship title. Crockrell Jr. averaged 12 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds in his high school career.
Crockrell Jr. also played with Dream Vision on the Adidas Gauntlet AAU Circuit, where he led the team to multiple deep runs during the summers.
Six other additions for the upcoming season include Casper College transfers Broc Finstuen and James Hampshire, Georgia Tech transfer Justin Moore, Idaho State graduate transfer Gary Chivichyan, and true freshmen Jonathan Salazar (St. John Bosco High School) and Daniss Jenkins (Dallas Hillcrest High School).
