STOCKTON, Calif. – Longtime Director of Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach Ryan Redondo has decided to resign from his position with the University of the Pacific.  Redondo departs Pacific after a successful nine-year tenure that took the Pacific men's tennis program to unprecedented heights.  
 
"As the leader of the men's tennis program for the past decade, Ryan has been impactful both on and off the court," Pacific Director of Athletics Janet Lucas said.  "His vision to elevate the program became a reality and his sense of purpose relative to the growth opportunity and positive experience provided to our student-athletes was at the core of his success."  
 
Redondo was named Pacific's Director of Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach in 2010. In his nine-year tenure, Redondo's Tigers garnered numerous Oracle ITA rankings on the team, singles and doubles sides. He helped develop 2016 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Big West honoree Sem Verbeek – who now enjoys a successful professional career on the ATP Tour – along with numerous other all-conference honorees between both the Big West and WCC.
 
Redondo was tabbed the 2013 Big West Coach of the Year and Wilson ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to a No. 66 national ranking as a team and leading them to the Big West tournament championship match as the No. 3 seed on top of improving the team's win total by eight from the previous season. He served as a coach for the USTA Northern California team at the Maze Cup in Bakersfield in 2011 and 2013, winning it all in 2013. In addition, Ryan played a pivotal role in the development of the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center and Clubhouse, raising over three million dollars for the facility prior to its opening in 2016.
 
As much as he did on the court, Redondo also helped Pacific make an impact in the community. Pacific was honored last season with the 2019 ITA Community Service Award for the second year in a row, volunteering for the Stockton Rotary's Read-In, Stockton Homeless Shelter, and serving as tour guides during the women's basketball Education Day game. In December of 2012, Redondo was recognized as the USTA/ITA National QuickStart Provider of the Year, given to a college coach who has promoted the 10-and-under tennis format to elementary school children by hosting QuickStart programs on campus. The year prior in 2011, Redondo was named the USTA/ITA Campus and Community Outreach Award Winner.
