Second Half Push Falls Short Against Toreros

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team (3-15-0, 0-8-0 WCC) put forth a respectable effort in the latter 45 minutes of Wednesday's match, but fell 1-0 to San Diego (7-9-1, 3-5-0 WCC) at Torero Stadium on a first half goal that served as the difference. 
 
In Case You Missed It
  • Emily Counter earned her second straight start after making her collegiate debut Saturday night against Portland. The freshman logged 74 minutes against the Toreros on Wednesday.
  • Jenae Packard started where she left off October 23 against Saint Mary's, creating chances from the midfield that started with a sizeable opportunity in the 12thminute. 
  • Lauren Frohan made her second straight appearance after not seeing action since October 5 at Loyola Marymount. 
 
Statistically Speaking 
  • The Tigers recorded seven of their eight shots in the second half, including three close calls in the final 15 minutes. 
  • Packard and Haleigh Wynne tied for the team lead with three shots apiece. Packard, who played 83 minutes against the Toreros, placed one of her three on target. 
  • Pacific's second half shot total was higher than each of the Tigers' last two outings and one shy of both of them combined. 
  • 18 Tigers in all saw the pitch against San Diego with nine of them being freshmen. 
 
Next Up 
  • The Tigers will return home for one final go in 2019, hosting Gonzaga on Saturday, November 9 for Senior Night. Kayla Pak, Ariana Cardenas, Katelyn Chandler and Sigrid Aas will be honored in a pregame ceremony in recognition of their final matches at Knoles Field.
