Pacific Set to Host Saint Mary's in Final Home Match

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team (13-15, 5-11 WCC) will play in its final home match of the 2019 season on Friday night, when it hosts the Saint Mary's Gaels.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Pacific dropped two tough matches on the road last weekend, falling at LMU (3-0) on Thursday night and Pepperdine (3-1) on Saturday afternoon.
  • Riley Patterson led the Tigers offensive efforts with 26 kills and 19 digs in seven sets played. 

     

VS. SAINT MARY'S

  • The Tigers lead the all-time series 13-7, winning its first meeting this season in five sets (17-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 15-11).
  • Three of the last five meetings have been decided in five sets.

     

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Patterson leads the Tigers with 3.88 points and 3.45 kills per set, while also totaling 27 service aces and averaging 2.80 digs per set. The sophomore ranks first in the WCC in total kills (390), total attacks (1,057), total points (438.0), and is third in kills per set. 
  • Jadyn Tubbs sits in second among her WCC foes with 475 total digs. Tubbs currently collects 4.2 digs per set and leads the Tigers with 33 service aces.
  • As a team, Pacific ranks among the top three WCC squads in seven categories — digs (1st, 1,714), kills (1st, 1,453), attacks (1st, 4,112), assists (1st, 1,349), attacks per set (2nd, 36.39), digs per set (3rd, 15.17), and service aces (3rd, 171).

     

SCOUTING THE GAELS

  • Saint Mary's has lost five of its last six contests, including losses to Pepperdine (3-0) and Loyola Marymount (3-1) last weekend.
  • The Gaels are led offensively by Breyan Ashley and Elena Baka, both averaging over two kills per set and over three points per set. Ashley averages 2.95 kills and 3.45 points, while Baka collects 2.65 kills and 3.05 points per set.
  • Setter, Alexsa Parker commands the offense with 6.31 assists per set and a whopping 43 service aces.
  • Defensively speaking, Kelsey Knudsen picks up 3.42 digs per set, while Aubrey Pitts ranks second in the conference with 1.42 blocks per set.
