Tigers Drop 3-1 Decision at Pepperdine

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's volleyball team wrapped up its final road series of the season with a 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18) loss at Pepperdine.

The Tigers fall to 13-15, 5-11 against their WCC foes, while the Waves improve to 16-10, 12-3 in conference play.

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

1st Set

  • Unlike their first meeting with the Waves, the Tigers found themselves at an early deficit. Pepperdine opened the match with a 5-0 run and outscored Pacific 14-6 through the first 20 serves.
  • With a 16-6 deficit, the Tigers went on a 5-0 run that put them back within five points (16-11) of the Waves.
  • The two squads matched nearly point-for-point over the next seven serves. 
  • With a 20-14 lead, Pepperdine allowed Pacific just one final point to close out the set, 25-15.
     

2nd Set

  • Like the previous set, Pepperdine jumped to an early lead (5-2). Pacific would battle back within two points (8-6) before winning eight-consecutive points. 
  • The Tigers would held the lead the remainder of the set. 
  • Pepperdine would come within striking distance twice more, but Pacific had a four-point run that extended its lead back to seven (19-12) and a 3-0 run (25-20) to secure the victory.
     

3rd Set

  • The set was tied seven times, at points 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 before Pepperdine took a significant lead of 15-9. 
  • Pacific was unable to come back within four points en route to a 25-20 set loss.
     

4th Set

  • Pacific took its only lead of the set at 6-5. 
  • Pepperdine answered with a 6-0 run to regain the lead at 11-6. 
  • Both teams scored four points over the next eight serves (14-10).
  • The Waves outscored the Tigers 11-8 to finish off the set and the match.

     

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Lucy Carpenter hit a team-leading .222 (7-3-18).
  • Riley Patterson led the Tigers with 11 kills and was one-of-five players to collected double-digit digs. Jadyn Tubbs had 17 digs, followed by Allison Dennemann (14), Patterson (13), Hanne De Schrijver (13), and Gabby Leo (11).
  • In addition, De Schrijver had team-highs of 23 assists and three service aces.
  • As a team, Pacific trailed Pepperdine, but was nearly even, in assists (44-42) and digs (76-73).
