Pacific Closes Out Preseason WNIT at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – The Pacific women's basketball team (1-1) will continue play in the Preseason WNIT when they face Drexel University (2-1) in their third game of the tournament on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm ET/ 11:00 am PT.
 
After falling to No. 6/7 Oregon State on Monday night in Corvallis, the Tigers will aim to get back into the win column against the Dragons before returning home for a matchup with Indiana State on Nov. 29.

LAST TIME OUT:
  • Despite the loss to the nationally-ranked Beavers, junior Brooklyn McDavid continued her scorching start to the season by tallying a new career-high with 32 points. The Studio City native was tabbed the City of Stockton Human Resources Player of the Game for her efforts, pulling down six rebounds and adding two steals for the Tigers as well. Following this performance, the third year forward now ranks second in the nation with an average of 29.0 points per game.
  • After hitting four triples in the opening round win vs. UMKC, redshirt senior Sofie Tryggedsson continued her sharpshooting against Oregon State by hitting three of five shots from behind the line, recording 9 total points.
  • Applying pressure throughout the contest, sophomore Kaylin Randhawa kept Pacific within striking distance of the Beavers by knocking down two three pointers of her own.
  • Although the Tigers would never grab the lead, UOP held an advantage in multiple statistical categories. Pacific led Oregon State in points off turnovers (11-9), second chance points (7-6) and bench points (11-2).
 
SCOUTING THE DRAGONS:
  • Drexel comes into the contest with a 2-1 record on the year following a season-opening road win at Quinnipiac before a home-opening victory in the first round of the Preseason WNIT against Davidson on Nov. 9.
  • Earlier this week, the Dragons were defeated by No. 18/20 DePaul, 81-57, in the second round of the tournament. 
  • Senior Bailey Greenberg scored 31 points in each win by the Dragons, tying her career high in both games. She also scored 17 against the Blue Demons to bring her season average to 26.3, which ties her for sixth in the nation.
  • Last season, the Dragons won 24 games, the third consecutive year in which the program has won at least 20 games. 
  • Drexel also advanced to its second consecutive CAA championship game and earned a bid to the WNIT, its 10th postseason appearance in the last 11 years.
