Tigers Find Success on Day One at SMC Fall Invite

MORAGA, Calif. – Pacific completed a successful day one of the 2019 SMC Fall Invite Friday afternoon, taking several single sand doubles wins at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex on the campus of Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California. 
 
Singles A
  • Freshmen Klara Kosan and Zoe Eberle kept their early progress going with Round of 32 wins over UC Davis' Sara Tsukamoto (6-3, 6-2) and Wisconsin's Charmaine Seah (6-3, 6-3), respectively.
Singles B 
  • Maya Lopez ousted the bracket's No. 1 seed, dropping the second set to San Francisco's Chiho Mushika but taking the decisive third for the 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 win. 
  • Pacific bested Wisconsin once more with Karina Vyrlan dropping the first set to Christina Zordani but battling back for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory. 
  • Danielle Zamora stayed hot fresh off her consolation win at last weekend's Cal Fall Invitational with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Sacramento State's Shauna Casey.  
Doubles A
  • Anna Ramos Vinolas and Karina Vyrlan advanced to the semifinals with a tight Round of 16 win over Cal's Alexis Nelson and Wisconsin's Melissa Pick (8-7[4]), followed by a more comfortable 8-4 win over San Francisco's Mya Bui and Chiho Mushika. 
Doubles B
  • Elise Frigout and Maya Lopez dropped their first round match, but let it fuel them to a semifinal berth in consolation bracket.
