WINNIPEG, Canada – Pacific men's tennis alum Sem Verbeek, earned his first ATP Challenger Tour Title after he and partner Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland won the $75,000 ATP Challenger in Winnipeg, Canada last Saturday.
"This is a great victory for Sem and I am really happy for him," expressed head men's tennis coach Ryan Redondo. " It was just a couple of months ago that we were speaking on the phone while he was in Morocco that he said, "I am ready to break into the top 200 now." I believe in Sem and the path he is taking and whatever he's putting his mind to I know he's going to be successful. He's got a great team supporting him and this is just another stage in his development as a person and player. The 209 is cheering him on."
This title is Verbeek's 17th doubles win since exhausting his eligibilty in 2016. The day also marked Verbeek's first victory against a top-20 player.
