Women's Tennis Rolls To 4-3 Win Over UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - The Tigers took down UC Irvine 4-3 on Friday, starting their road trip with a win. The victory brings Pacific to 5-4 overall on the year.

"It was a great team effort today and we finally came away with the doubles point," boasted head coach Tina Samara. "It's so hard to go out and take 4 singles matches against these teams and today it really paid off. We are getting stronger as the season goes and are excited to take on a very strong Cal St Fullerton team tomorrow."

The Tigers got the doubles point behind 6-4 victories at the one and three spots. Maayan Sela/Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz got back to their winning ways and Yuki Asami/Anna Ramos Vinolas made it two-straight at the three spot to help Pacific take the 1-0 advantage early. 

In singles, Anneroos Nederstigt won her match at two 7-6 (5), 6-4 and Ramos Vinolas took down her opponent at the four spot 6-3, 6-0. Sela dropped her match at the top spot 6-4, 6-3, and Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz also fell 6-0, 6-4. Asami sealed the win at the six spot as she outdueled her opponent 7-5, 6-3. 

The Tigers will look to make it two in a row as they face Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
