Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – Following a fifth straight loss on Thursday night to No. 20 Gonzaga in Spokane, the Pacific Tigers (5-9, 0-1 WCC) return to the Alex G. Spanos Center to try and close out 2017 with a win and snap a five-game losing streak. Pacific will host the Loyola Marymount Lions (5-7, 0-1 WCC) tonight in its first conference home game with the opening tip set for 7 p.m. PT.
Saturday marks Pacific's first home game since Dec. 16 when they suffered an 81-76 loss to UNLV. Since that loss, the Tigers have played back-to-back Top 25 ranked teams on the road (Arizona State, Gonzaga). Pacific was outscored in those two games by a combined score of 185-113. In Pacific's most recent loss at Gonzaga, they trailed by only 10 points with just over 12 minutes remaining in the second half before watching the Bulldogs go on a 34-11 run to close out the contest. Rui Hachimura led the way for Gonzaga with 19 points while Josh Perkins added 16. Jahlil Tripp was the Tigers' leading scorer with nine points. Jack Williams added seven points and provided a team-high nine rebounds.
Loyola Marymount has lost three straight and is also coming into Saturday's contest on the heels of a lopsided loss at St. Mary's by a final of 87-59. St. Mary's jumped out to a 30-7 lead over the first 10 minutes and never looked back. Eli Scott was LMU's leading point-getter with 13 on 6-for-8 shooting. Mattias Markusson (11) and James Batemon (10) also scored in double figures for the Lions, who shot just 23.1 percent (6-for-26) in the first half and 37.5 percent for the game.
Batemon is LMU's leading scorer on the season as he averages 18.4 points per contest. Scott (12.9) and Steven Haney (11.0) also average double figure point totals for the Lions.
Pacific has not beaten LMU in Stockton since Feb. 6, 1971. LMU leads the all-time series 29-27 and has won three consecutive games and four of its last five versus the Tigers. Pacific is 3-5 versus LMU since rejoining the WCC in 2013-14, with all three wins coming at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles. The last five meetings between the two teams have been decided by six points or less.
