BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - With only one day left until Pacific's season-opener at No. 16 UCLA, men's basketball coach Damon Stoudamire and his Tigers, along with the women's basketball program, met with Pacific boosters and alumni Thursday at a special dinner inside the Beverly Hilton. The two-hour event was emceed by Zack Bayrouty.
Stoudamire, director of athletics Ted Leland and women's basketball coach Bradley Davis addressed over 100 members in attendance that hailed from the Los Angeles and Stockton areas.
"It was a great event and chance for the Tiger family to come together in West LA," Leland said. "Pacific athletic boosters have been very generous to the university in recent years. A lot of alumni have purchased tickets to the contests tomorrow in Pauley Pavilion, and we're very excited about the games."
Thursday evening's event was organized by the Pacific Athletic Foundation, which has spearheaded numerous Pacific gatherings, most notably the Men's Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon on Nov. 1 that featured former NBA All-Star and champion Gary Payton as guest speaker.
"The alumni turnout tonight was outstanding," Pacific associate director of athletics for development Chris Lynn said. "There's a lot of energy and optimism about the future of Tiger athletics, and it shows at an event like this with so many people showing up to support our student-athletes and coaches."
