Las Vegas, Nev. - The Pacific women's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over New Mexico State Saturday as the Tigers move to 2-1 on the season.

In doubles, Viktoriya Dzyuba and Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz posted a 6-0 win over Erika Castillo Lopez and Gabrielle Joyce, while Katie Dyson and Maayan Sela posted a 7-6 win over Rimpledeep Kaur and Ashvarya Shrivastav.  Yuki Asami and Anneroos Nederstigt fell to Lindsay Harlas an Chloe Jolliff.

Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 sweep of Castillo at the second singles position, while Dzyuba defeated Shrivastav in the first singles, 6-1, 6-2 for a 2-0 Pacific lead. Sela completed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marie-Pier Thiffault in fourth singles for the clincher.

At third singles, Dyson fell to Kaur, 7-6 (3), 6-0 before Asami won a tie-breaker site over Harlas, 6-1, 3-6 (10). Sabrina Rodriguez fell to Mia Brandt in a tie-breaker set, 7-5, 6-3 (7) at the sixth singles spot.

"Another great team effort by the Tigers today," head coach Charlotte Scatliffe said. "We have really been coming together and it is showing on the tennis court. Team captain Cristina had a great day today winning 6-0 in doubles and 1 and 0 in singles. I'm very proud of her efforts today. Tomorrow we know we have a big test in front of us, but these women believe that they can win. It'll be fun to see where we're are against a tough UNLV squad, and see what we're currently made of."

The Tigers face UNLV on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
