Tigers Fall At Home To UCSB

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 contest to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Sept. 21 at Knoles Soccer Field. Pacific dropped to 2-7-0 with the loss, while UC Santa Barbara improved to 5-3-2.

Pacific gave up a goal to the Gauchos just 1:25 into the match, when Miranda Cornejo scored off of an assist from Kate Shoemaker to take a 1-0 lead. The Gauchos struck again with three more goals in the first half, on a pair of goals from Sara Feder and on from Angelisa Cortez. Though the Tigers were out-shot in the first half, Pacific was able to get seven shots.

Cortez scored again at 63:23, then Pacific responded with the first goal of the year by sophomore Matti Long. Makenna Kummer rounded out the scoring for the Gauchos.

Pacific was out-shot 7-2 in the second half and 18-9 for the match. Samia Adam had three shots, including a first half effort that was just over the cross bar. Carly Marietti added two shots.

The Tigers are next in action with a road game at UC Davis on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m. It will be the final non-conference matchup for Pacific.
