Stockton, Calif. - The No. 6 Pacific men's water polo team cruised to an opening 14-6 win over No. 11 UC Davis in the Kap7 NorCal Classic Saturday morning behind a career-high five goals from Ben Stevenson.
Krisztian Laczkovics added three goals while Sean Grady posted two.
The Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter as Stevenson posted a hat-trick in the first period. He added another pair of goals in the second quarter as the Tigers led 8-2 at halftime.
Laczkovics scored twice in the third quarter, as Pacific led by as much as 12-3.
The Aggies posted late goes to trim the margin, but Grady and Devon Thumwood added fourth-quarter goals as Pacific advanced to the quarterfinals.
Brady Moore made four saves in goal for Pacific, while UC Davis keeper Spencer Creed tallied 11 saves.
Pacific will face UCLA at 2:40 p.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. The Aggies meet Pomona-Pitzer at 1:20 p.m. The Bruins posted a 24-0 win in their opener to advance to the quarters.
