Las Vegas, Nev. - The Pacific women's tennis team fell in a close 4-3 dual match at UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Tigers fell to 1-2, while UNLV improved to 2-2.
"We fell just short of a good win today," said Pacific Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe. "Although we didn't get the team victory, there were some individual highlights that we are proud of. Hana and Regina took down UNLV's talented #1 team to keep their record clean of any loses this season. Hana came up big again for us in singles today with a win in the No. 2 spot. To come so close today only motivates us as a team and also focuses us to finish off this weekend strong. We are looking forward to our final match of this trip tomorrow against NMS where we will be coming out firing.
The Tigers' doubles team of Hana Ritterova and Regina Suarez earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Ritterova, Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz and Gergana Boncheva each picked up singles victories.
Pacific is next in action against New Mexico State in Las Vegas on Feb. 9.
