Pacific Falls At Home To Loyola Marymount

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Loyola Marymount on Friday, Oct. 10 at Knoles Soccer Field. The Tigers fell to 2-10-1 on the season and 0-3-0 in West Coast Conference play, while LMU improved to 8-4-1 and 1-2-0 in WCC action.

The Tigers were out-shot 7-4 in a scoreless first half. In the 18th minute, Matti Long beat the keeper, but just missed by hitting the underside of the crossbar and ricocheted back into play as the game remained scoreless.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Callie Taylor, scoring on a header off of a corner kick. Morgan Hilby scored on a similiar play less than two minutes later to make it 2-0.

Pacific cut it back to 2-1 in the 83rd minute, when Taylor Ayers finished off of a great pass from Long, who had dribbled up the right side. It was the team-leading second goal of the season for Ayers. The Lions made it 3-1 on a goal by Raquel Angelone in the 85th minute to finish the scoring.

The Tigers were out-shot 8-5 in the second half and 15-9 for the game. 

The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 12 with a home game against No. 8 Pepperdine. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in the annual Pacific Plays Pink match.
