Tigers Edged In Overtime At UC Santa Barbara

Box Score

Santa Barbara, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 overtime decision at UC Santa Barbara on Friday, September 6.

"This was a tough match to lose," said Pacific Head Coach Keith Coleman. "We played well enough to win, but just couldn't find the back of the net. We're continuing to grow as a team and making strides each match."

The deciding goal was scored on a header by UCSB's Miranda Cornejo off of a well placed corner kick by Geneve Dromensk just three minutes into overtime at the 93:20 mark of the match.

Pacific was outshot 7-2 in the first half. Sophomore Zarette Munoz-Aguilar took the Tigers only two shot of the first 45 minutes, missing high with both attempts. The Tigers had three more shots in the second half, one more from Munoz-Aguilar and shot each from sophomore Cheyenne Somers and senior Maricela Padilla.

Senior Tashia Long had six saves in goal for the Tigers.

The Tigers are in action on the road again next weekend, with neutral site matches at Saint Mary's.  Pacific will play Lehigh on Friday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. and New Mexico on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
