Bremerton, Wash. - With the first two rounds of the new 2013-14 season complete, the Pacific golf team finds itself in 14th place at the Kikkor Husky Invitational hosted by Washington on Monday, Sept. 16. The Tigers posted a pair of 299 rounds over the first two rounds of action to finish +22 for the day at the Olympic Course in Bremerton, Wash. Pacific, as well as the rest of the field, trails the host Huskies in the standings as Washington finished the day in first place at -11.
Individually, the Tigers were led by junior Eric Sugimoto who ended the opening rounds of action at -1 overall after posting an even-par, 72, in the first round and a -1, 71, in round two. Sugimoto's best showing came late in round two as the junior began to find his groove on the course to post three birdies over the final five holes of action. Sugimoto's surge at the end put the third-year star in contention for the title as he sits just five strokes off the pace and in a tie for ninth. Sugimoto will look to chase down Washington's Cheng-Tsung Pan who holds a two-stroke lead on the field heading into the final round after tallying a -6 for the day at his home tournament.
The Tigers will close out play at their opening tournament of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with final round action at the Kikkor Husky Invitational. Pacific will be one of the first team's on the course beginning at 7:30 am.
