Edfort Cards An Ace At The Gary Koch Invitational

Tampa, Fla. - Staring down the Par 3, 7th, senior Alex Edfort made the shot of the tournament as the Tiger standout sunk his tee-shot from 164 yards away to card his first collegiate ace. Edfort's hole-in-one came during the final round of action at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday, April 9. As a team, the Tigers finished in 13th place as Pacific posted a three-round total of 905, +41.

In a day that was full of ups and downs for the senior at the Old Memorial Golf Club, no shot was sweeter than his single shot from the 7th tee-box as Edfort used a seven-iron to post his ace in his third-to-last hole. Edfort, like the rest of his teammates, had begun his day on the 10th team as the Tiger was paired with players from Ohio State and Florida State for his final 18 holes of action. Overall on the day and despite the single on the 7th, Edfort struggled to find his groove as the senior posted a +2, 74 in round three to end the tournament at +4. In all, Edfort's +4, 220 was good enough for 28th place on the leaderboard as the field fell behind Florida State's Rowin Caron and Georgia Tech's Bo Andrews who each posted a -9, 207 for the split tournament title.

With their final regular season tournament finished, the Tigers will push their foces to their final Big West Championship tournament which will take place from April 28-30. Last season, Edfort won the individual title at the championships to earn a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
