Fresno, Calif. - Taking part in the 49th edition of the Fresno Lexus Classic on Monday, March 5, the Pacific golf team put itself with in reach of the top of the leaderboard after a strong showing in round two.  After firing a +5 in the opening round, the Tigers responded with a -5 in round two to finish the day at even-par, 365.  The Tigers are within reach of the six teams above them in the leaderboard and trail the overall lead, Oregon State by 13 strokes with one round to play.

Facing a field of 16 teams on the Played on the 6,765-yard, par-72 Fort Washington Country Club course in Fresno, Calif., the Tigers used prime playing conditions to put themselves in contention in the final round on Tuesday, March 6.  Individually, the Tigers were led by their junior, Alex Edfort, who put himself into contention for the overall crown at the tournament by posting a -4, 140 through the first two rounds.  The junior finds himself in a tie for No. 4 on the board and five strokes off the pace set by UC Irvine's Michael Yang who tallied a -9 with a -7, 65 in round two.  Yang holds a four stroke lead over the rest of the field with 18-holes to play.

Following Edfort, freshman Byron Meth found his swing at the classic as he went two-under for the day with back-to-back 71s.  Meth finds himself two behind his junior teammate and sitting in a tie for 17th on the leaderboard.

The Tigers and Edfort will look to make a move on the final day of play at the Lexus Classic on Tuesday, March 6.  Pacific will tee off at 8:00 am with the rest of the field in a shotgun start.
