Stockton, Calif.-
Pacific kicked off the match against the Nationally ranked Gaels cautiously, trying to gain their footing and read their opponents' strategy whilst trying to place their shots and hit winners; however the Gaels were firing back shots that were keeping the Tigers in a deffensive state. Only managing solid deffensive returns left the Tigers at a disadvantage because they weren't able to make the game-winning plays that they were accustomed to.
In the singles competitions, the Tigers attempted to improve Pacific's score. As the matches got underway, the Gaels remained relentless and proved to dominate. Pacific came up short in all of the sinlges matches resulting in a final match score of Saint Mary's College 7, Pacific 0.
Proceeding the match, Coach Chiene commented, "They are the best team we have played this year. Being shorthanded and playing a top 35 team is a difficult proposition."
The Tigers now prepare to face UC Davis at home on March 15th. The conference match is scheduled to take place at 2:00pm pending the weather conditions.
