Los Angeles, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team dropped a 57-44 decision at UCLA on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in the second round of the 2010 Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-off. Pacific dropped to 2-1 on the season, while UCLA improved to 3-0.

Pacific took an early 6-2 lead after three-pointers from seniors Pat Eveland (San Diego, Calif.) and Demetrece Young (Oklahoma City, Okla.). The Bruins then scored 10 straight points behind six points from Reeves Nelson to take a 12-6 lead with 13:41 remaining in the first half. UCLA increased the lead to 25-15 with 7:50 to go after a 9-3 run. Young hit another three for the Tigers, to get it back to a seven point game, but the Bruins again went on a 12-2 run to get their largest lead of the half at 37-20 with 2:01 to go. The Tigers trailed 40-24 at the break.

After Pacific cut it to nine (49-40) with 5:37 to go after four straight points from senior Sam Willard (Pierre, S.D.), the Bruins took it back to a 13 point lead at the four minute mark with a pair of free throws from Brendan Lane and a layup by Lazeric Jones. Holding off the Tigers the rest of the way, the Bruins came away with the victory. Pacific stayed within striking distance by holding UCLA to 17 points in the second half, but shooting just 22.6 percent in the second half along with missing all nine three-point attempts provided just 20 points.

The Tigers were led by Willard's fifth straight double-double, with 18 points and 14 rebounds. UCLA was led by Reeves' 21 points and 14 rebounds.

The Tigers are next in action on Saturday, Nov. 20 in their home opener against William Jessup.
