Bordeaux And Edfort Finish Strong, But Pacific Ends In 14th At The Prestige

Oct. 12, 2010

La Quinta, Calif. - Never feeling completely comfortable with the Stadium Course at the PGA West, the Pacific golf team completed play at The Prestige in 14th place on Tuesday, October 12. The Tigers finished the three-day tournament at +36, while senior T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash.) posted Pacific's top individual finish placing in a tie for 23rd with a score of +5, 221. Holding on late, Cal took home the team championship with an even par, 864 three day total, three better than second place Stanford and Washington.

Playing well over the final two rounds of the tournament, Bordeaux tied for the top individual round for the Tigers over the three days as he shot an even par, 72 to close out his tournament. Opening his round, Bordeaux fired off nine straight pars before punching in his first birdie of the afternoon on the par-5, fifth. He would fall back to even-par two holes later after carding his lone bogey of the third round.

Right alongside of Bordeaux in the final round was sophomore Alex Edfort (Somerset, N.J.) who rebounded from a rough day two to card an even-par, 72, as well. The Tigers' leader after day one, Edfort misfired in round two with a +6, suffering from one bad hole that dropped him down the individual standings. On the third day, while Bordeaux was the model of consistency, Edfort took a more aggressive approach to the course resulting in three bogeys, but also three birdies, including two in the final four holes. For the three day tournament, Edfort posted a +7, 223 to finish in a tie for 26th on the individual leaderboard.

Stanford's Andrew Yun ran away with the individual title at The Prestige as he carded the tournament's top round on day three, a -7, 65. For the three days, Yun shot -12, tallying just two bogeys on day one and one on day two while posting 15 birdies including seven on the final day.

Pacific will be back in action on Monday, October 25 when the Tigers take part in the St. Mary's Invitational in Monterey, Calif.
