Tigers Solid Back-Nine Help Them Move Up On Day Two Of The Prestige

La Quinta, Calif. - Finishing play on day two of The Prestige at the Stadium Course of the PGA West, the Pacific golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard as they posted a +10, 298, on Monday, October 11. The Tigers moved up to 13th in the tournament, four shots ahead of Big West rival Long Beach State, but 32 shots back of the co-leaders Cal and Stanford who sit at -1 through two days of The Prestige.

After struggling during the opening round with tough course conditions and extreme temperatures, the Tigers got rebounded efforts from two of their seniors on the course as T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash.) and Alex Johnson (Tucson, Ariz.) each fired off rounds of 73, one over par. Johnson made the biggest recovery for the Tigers after suffering through a +7, 80 on the first day. His two day total of +8 put him into a tie for 48th overall. At the top of the leaderboard for the Tigers after day two was Bordeaux who knocked off three strokes from his opening round score to post a +5, 149, good enough for a tie for 28th individually.

Leading the tournament through two rounds is Charlie Hughes as shot a -6, 72 on day two to post a -9, 135 two day total. Hughes leads the tournament by two shots over Cameron Wilson, who led the tournament after day one with a -5, 67 before following it up with a -2, 70 in round two.

The Tigers will close out play at The Prestige on Tuesday, October 12, when they tee-off round three at the Stadium Course at the PGA West at 12:30 pm.
