Opening play at The Prestige, hosted by UC Davis, the Pacific golf team struggled with triple digit heat and tough course conditions as they completed day one of the tournament at +21 and in 14th place. The three day tournament is being played at the Stadium Course at PGA West and is led by Cal which shot a -2, 286 to take a four shot lead into the second day of action.
Individually, sophomore Alex Edfort (Somerset, N.J.) proved to be the top Tiger on the day as he fired off a +1, 73 to place himself into a tie for 16th overall in the tournament standings. Throughout the day, Edfort carded three of the Tigers' four birdies shot in round one, picking up all three on the front nine of the par-72 course. Behind Edfort, senior T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash.) posted a +4, 76, round to come into the clubhouse in a tie for 38th after day one.
At the top of the leaderboard, Stanford's Cameron Wilson posted the top individual round in the first day of action as he shot a -5, 67. He currently holds a one shot lead of Arizona State's Thomas Buran who tallied a -4, 68.
The Tigers will look to get back on track and figure out the Stadium Course in day two of The Prestige on Monday, October 11. The Tigers tee-off in the first group of the day which will hit the course at 12:30 pm.
