Tigers Trounce Weber State in Spring Opener 7-0

Jan. 22, 2010

Las Vegas, Nev. - A two hour rain delay did not deter the University of Pacific women's tennis team from playing on all cylinders as they swept Weber State 7-0 in day one of the UNLV Quad-Match Friday afternoon.

Senior Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) and junior Jenifer Widjaja (Sao Roque, Sao Paulo, Brazil) paced Pacific, coming away with an 8-1 win over Greyce Farias and Keya Jenkins at the No. 1 spot in doubles play to start the day.

Widjaja would face Jenkins again in No. 1 singles; cruising to an easy 2-0 (6-0, 6-2) win. Freshman Christina Goehl (Karlsruhe, Germany), playing at the No. 2 spot, allowed Farias just one point before sweeping her in two sets (6-1, 6-0) to clinch the match for the Tigers.

Pacific will face off against host No. 41 UNLV tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. The Tigers dropped their first match against the Rebels last season 4-3 and will be looking for redemption.
