Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team remained on a role as the Tigers earned their second straight victory and third consecutive in Big West action with a 5-2 win over UC Riverside at Hal Nelson Tennis Courts on Saturday, Mar. 7.
The victory moved Pacific to 7-6 on the season and 3-0 in the Big West Conference, while UC Riverside fell to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
The Tigers earned a sweep in doubles action to take a quick 1-0 lead in the match the three Pacific teams earned 8-2 (No. 1), 8-1 (No. 2) and 8-3 (No. 3) victories.
Sophomore Kateryna Nezhura (Kiev, Ukraine) grabbed a swift 6-0, 6-3 win over Yasaman Sakhakorn in the No. 5 slot. Moments later the Tigers went up 3-0 as sophomore Jenifer Widjaja (Sao Roque, Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated Erynne Oki 6-2, 6-2.
The clinching point came in short order as senior Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) grabbed a straight set 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot over Donna McCullough.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Mar. 15 as Pacific travels to Cal State Northridge to face the Matadors at 11 a.m.
