Riverside, Calif. The Pacific Tigers women's tennis team picked up its second win in Big West conference play on the season defeating the UC Riverside Highlanders at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Complex 6-1 Sunday April 13. With the victory Pacific improved to (6-12) overall and (2-6) in Big West conference play while UC Riverside dropped to an (8-8) overall and a (1-6) record against conference opponents this season.
The Tigers started their last conference dual matchup of the season by sweeping doubles action and taking home the doubles point in three straight sets led by Arens/Nezhura at the number one position.
Junior Jolanta Twarowska (Hamurg, Germany) suffered the only loss of the day for the Tigers whrn she fell at number one singles. Her Tiger teammates looked to pick her up as they would win each of the next five matches to capture the match with a final score of 6-1.
Sophomore Svenja Arens (Bensberg, Germany), junior Clara Schuhmacher (Zaragoza, Spain) and sophomore Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) each collected victories in straight sets at the number two, five, and six positions respectively.
The Tigers return to the courts Saturday April 19 2008 when they travel to Fresno State to take on the Bulldogs in their last dual meet of the season. Match slated for 4:00pm
