Zoldak Claims 400 IM as Tigers Move Within Striking Distance of Second Place at Big West Swimming Championships

Long Beach, Calif. - Pacific senior Krzysztof Zoldak (Oswiecim, Poland) claimed the 400 IM with a time of 03:51.56 to help the Pacific men's swim team move within three points of third place following the third day of action at the Big West Swimming Championships on Friday, Feb. 22.

Two other Tigers had splendid showings on Friday as seniors David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Calif.) and Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland) grabbed second place finishes in the 100 Breast and 100 Back.

Dunn posted a time of 55.17 in the 100 Breast, just .11 seconds behind Jeffrey Sudbury of UC Santa Barbara, who won the event in 55:06.

Betlej, meanwhile, finished the 100 Back in 49.26, touching out UC Santa Barbara's Bradley Matsumoto by .02 seconds for second place. Eddie Erazo won the event in 47.98.

"Tonight we had a great finals session! There were a few breakout swims and just a really good performance all the way around. But if we are going to get to second, we have to be sensational tomorrow," said head coach Greg Meehan.

The other events concluded on Friday were the 100 Fly, 200 Free and 200 Free Relay.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as the following events will be held. 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay, and the 1650 Free.
